I am the Bipolar Rabbi

It’s great to finally meet you.

For years, I wanted to look for you, but I was ashamed and too fearful to reach out. This is finally the time to have courage and open my heart to you. We can find strength in this journey together!

My Promise

My commitment to you is to work as a team to transition from feeling like a patient to feeling like a person. In this journey I will share with you my wisdom as an experienced spiritual leader, doctor in philosophy, and personality type expert. Together, you and I will bridge the gap between the best medical practices and spiritual wisdom.

Like anybody else, we are whole human beings with dreams and the right to fulfill our potential. We have the tools of spiritual tradition, philosophical ideas, personality type theory, and therapy to guide us. That’s a mighty combination. Let’s take a chance to defeat depressive, dark, and self-depreciating modalities of mental illness into action, clarity, and fulfillment.

My Story

As a bipolar who has been arrested, hospitalized, and in treatment, I share much of your journey. I’m not only an expert but a fellow traveler. I have researched many authoritative scientific studies that reveal that those like us facing a mental condition suffer from profound existential dislocations. Mental illness triggers in us a sense of inadequacy, shame, isolation, alienation, and despair. We both know that, though traditional medicine has been good to us, the usual medical and therapeutic methods do not address these profound spiritual and existential challenges. Spiritual wisdom from different cultures across millennia has generated tools to deal with the core existential questions of life. Together, you and I will bridge the gap between the best medical practices and spiritual wisdom.

There is a destination waiting for you and me. I’m not sure where that existential place is. But I know that the journey in itself can be wise and meaningful. We have the tools of spiritual tradition, philosophical ideas, personality type theory, and therapy to guide us. That’s a mighty combination. Let’s take a chance to defeat depressive, dark, and self-depreciating modalities of mental illness into action, clarity, and fulfillment.
